579 FNAK52 PAFG 251406 FWFWCZ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western Alaska National Weather Service Fairbanks AK 606 AM AKDT Tue Jun 25 2024 .DISCUSSION.... The high over the Interior will continue to build and conditions will stay hot and dry. Today and tomorrow the Interior Seward Peninsula will be near Red Flag conditions. Tuesday afternoon there will be isolated thunderstorms from Ambler south to Holy Cross in the afternoon and widely scattered thunderstorms in the Upper Kuskokwim Valley. Wednesday most of the Western Coast has a chance of isolated PM thunderstorms. Winds will be increasing Wednesday to 15 to 25 mph along the coast due to an anomalous low approaching in the Bering Sea. Thursday is setting up to be a very active thunderstorm day given the increasing confidence there will be scattered PM thunderstorms from the Western Brooks Range all the way to the Interior. It`s possible this could be one of the largest lightning days we`ll see this year.
