With a strong high pressure system persisting overhead, record and near-record high temperatures are forecast for the remainder of the week. Gulf moisture will increase over eastern areas during the first half of the week, shifting patchy critically low humidities over central and northwest areas today and Tuesday, where there will be an increasing risk of new fire starts from isolated to widely scattered storms with small wetting footprints. After increasing storm coverage along and east of the central mountain chain today and Tuesday, storm coverage will increase area-wide Wednesday, then decrease late week. ................................................................
