.DISCUSSION...

Winds will increase out of the northwest, with gusts of 35 to
potentially 45 mph by the afternoon over central South Dakota.
Locally higher gusts are possible especially across portions of
north central and south central Dakota. Scattered rain showers will
track across the region through this evening with the possibility of
afternoon thunderstorms. No severe weather anticipated. Afternoon
humidity is expected to remain above 35 percent which along with the
fuel status will keep Grassland Fire Danger Index at Low category.

Winds will be breezy over portions of north central and northeastern
South Dakota Friday afternoon with gusts of 25 to 35 mph out of the
west. Overall dry conditions with afternoon relative humidity
dropping between 20 to 35 percent, lowest over south central South
Dakota. However, due to greener fuels, the Grassland Fire Danger
Index will remain at Low category.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low. Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.

The outlook for Friday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
