...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1030 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast North Carolina, including the
  following counties, Gates, Hertford and Northampton and southeast
  Virginia, including the following county and independent city,
  City of Suffolk and Southampton.

* WHEN...Until 1030 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 826 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain
    have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Murfreesboro, Garysburg, Boykins, Gatesville, Chowan
    University, Suffolk, Gates, Gaston, Conway, Winton, Seaboard,
    Como, Roduco, Jackson, Severn, Lasker, Pendleton, Barretts
    Crossroad, Milwaukee and Mapleton.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
