Pattern Synopsis:

Troughing will continue to slide to our east through the end of the
week as ridging folds over Ontario and the Great Lakes. Surface high
pressure will continue to build across the region, becoming centered
more squarely overhead tonight into Friday. The pattern will amplify
through the weekend as upstream troughing punches overhead,
supporting a cyclone well to our north that looks to swing an
attendant cold front through the area in the late Saturday/early
Sunday timeframe. High pressure then looks to build back into the
Great Lakes on the backside of this system to start next week before
troughing looks to settle in by the middle of next week.

Forecast Discussion:

Rain-free weather is expected to persist through the end of this
week and into this weekend. With mostly clear skies and calm winds
in store tonight, efficient radiational cooling will allow for
temperatures to quickly drop -- potentially dipping into the upper
30s and low 40s across the typical coldest low-lying locations of
interior northern Michigan. Temperatures ranging from the mid 40s to
low 50s are anticipated elsewhere. Afternoon temperatures then look
to warm back into the mid 70s to low 80s for most areas Friday and
Saturday.

Our next round of rain chances return late Saturday as the
aforementioned front swings through the area. With a dry airmass
originally in place ahead of the front in tandem with the
system being far to our north, the relatively moisture-starved
environment looks to keep coverage to isolated/scattered -- with
the potential that little/no rain develops along/ahead of the
front and many areas of the Northwoods stay dry through the
weekend. High pressure building in will likely keep dry weather
in the forecast Sunday and Monday with our next chances
potentially holding off until closer to the middle of next week.

unlikely. Otherwise quiet wx continues, with a sw to s breeze
kicking in Friday. That weakens but does not totally die off Fri
