.DISCUSSION...Rest of today through Tuesday...
Elevated humidity levels will keep fire concerns low today despite
breezy conditions in the high country. Humidity will fall slightly
on Tuesday but winds will also be lighter, thus limiting concerns.
Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and
evening, with only very localized wetting rain. Precipitation chances
will shift mainly to areas south of I-70 tomorrow.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Tuesday night through Saturday...
Drier conditions are forecast for the mid week period. Near-critical
fire weather conditions are expected in the high country Wednesday with
potential for locally critical conditions in and around the high valleys,
given notably lower humidity into the low to mid teens and lingering breezy
west winds.
Little change is expected going into Thursday, although the wind component
is likely to be marginal in terms of Red Flag potential both Wednesday and
Thursday.
Winds look to strengthen on Friday, but current guidance favors at least a
slight improvement in humidity levels. A small forecast trend towards drier
a drier airmass would promote locally critical fire weather conditions Friday.
