Snow continues at the terminals this morning under a persistent
upslope flow regime. There`s been a couple of stronger bands of
snow that have briefly reduced visibility below 1SM at DEN/BJC
though generally conditions remained fairly constant this morning
with 1-2SM visby and ceilings between 600-1500ft AGL. Guidance
suggests some modest/shallow instability developing over the next
couple of hours, which could lead to some convectively enhanced
areas of snowfall. As a result the TEMPO for some 3/4SM, BKN006
conditions was extended into 20z. However, upslope is expected to
weaken into the mid/late afternoon hours and moisture should also
diminish, leading to most snow ending between 21-01z. Ceilings may
bounce around a bit today but in general IFR conditions are
likely.
Winds should turn to the east with ceilings rising this evening. A
little uncertainty with regard to how quickly the stratus deck
erodes, but most guidance returning to VFR conditions by around
06z tonight. Some BUFKIT soundings favor FG late tonight into
Thursday morning and have kept the VCFG in at DEN as a result. The
rest of Thursday should be much quieter with VFR prevailing.

Snow will continue to impact all of the terminals today into
this evening, with a gradual diminishing trend later this
evening into the overnight hours. Latest radar imagery and
observations showing light to moderate snow in place with
visibility staying right around 1/2 mile at all sites. Given the
overall setup, don`t anticipate much to change with a medium to
high chance for this similar snow intensity and visibility to
continue through this afternoon. While visibility has briefly
dropped to 1/4 mile, mainly at ALS, think there is a low chance
for any persistent heavier snow with this vis to continue. If
this were to occur, think ALS will have the highest chances. IFR
ceilings have moved in place and given the snow trends, don`t
see why any improvement will occur. If anything, ceilings could
trend downward and not up.
Anticipate this snow to diminish this evening, from north to
south with improvement occurring first at COS and then PUB. Do
show this improving trend at all sites, however, it`s possible
that similar snow and intensity could last longer into the
evening at ALS and will continue to closely monitor trends into
the evening. Do have ceilings also improving but my confidence
is not overly high, as it`s possible that IFR ceilings persist
well into the overnight hours. While light snow or flurries may
continue into the overnight hours, any impactful snow should end
after the midnight time frame. Confidence on when the MVFR
ceilings scatter is low, but think a more likely trend will be
for them to remain in place through much of the period. Winds
will generally stay light, however, a period of gustier east
southeast winds is likely at ALS this afternoon.

.AVIATION...KSLC...IFR CIGS gradually improve through the morning,
moving into VFR conditions by late morning (roughly between 16-18z).
Clearing skies and dry conditions are expected through the remainder
of the day through the end of the TAF period. Generally light
northerly winds persist through around 04-06z this evening,
transitioning to the southeast thereafter. There is a 20% chance
northerly winds persist at the terminal into early Thursday morning.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Low CIGS will continue across
northern Utah and southwest Wyoming terminals this morning before
gradually clearing from late morning into the afternoon. For
southern Utah terminals, expect gradually lowering CIGS this morning
as a cold front tracks through the region, with MVFR and brief IFR
conditions possible. Snow showers accompanying this front will
impact most central and southern Utah terminals between 12-18z.
Northerly winds persist for most regional terminals today, with
gusty winds across southwest Utah terminals this afternoon.

West of the Divide...KBPI/KJAC/KPNA/KRKS Terminals.
Mid-level clouds should clear through the day, with VFR conditions
through the period. Winds will be relatively light and diurnally
driven today into tonight. Clouds begin to increase late tonight and
Thursday morning ahead of the next weather system. Current models
hold off snow chances until the very end, or after, the period. At
KJAC, a few models show snow chances arriving as early as late
Thursday morning, but the consensus is until at least 21Z, where
there is a PROB30 group. Chances increase further after the period.
East of the Divide...KCOD/KCPR/KLND/KRIW/KWRL Terminals.
VFR conditions prevail through the period as low to mid-level clouds
thin through the early afternoon. Winds remain relatively light and
diurnally driven through this evening. An approaching weather
system brings increasing winds and mid-to-high-level clouds starting
tonight. Strongest winds will initially be seen over the mountains,
so wind shear is possible at KCOD starting around 02Z. Elsewhere,
winds increase towards the end of the period or shortly after.

Snow will gradually taper off over the next few hours at KCYS
and KLAR, with a few snow showers possible near KCDR. CIGs will
remain MVFR through much of the afternoon, but should begin to
improve by the mid to late afternoon hours. Overnight, we should
start out with mostly clear skies, but there is potential for
some surface fog and/or low CIGs to develop at most terminals.
Confidence in this potential is fairly low at this time. Any
reduction in flight category should end early Thursday morning
when winds flip to westerly.

Widespread low stratus persists into this evening, with
widespread MVFR/IFR CIGs expected across western and north
central Nebraska. In addition, snow showers will move south
through the Sandhills and southwest Nebraska this afternoon,
with brief MVFR/IFR visibilities.
By this evening, snow and low stratus begins to exit the area,
and VFR is expected to return tonight. VFR conditions then
prevail into tomorrow afternoon.
Winds remain northerly into tonight at 10 to 15kts. Winds then
become southerly overnight, at 5 to 10kts.

Northeast winds will gradually become southerly by ~09Z over

through the end of the period. Winds should be 5-10 kts this
afternoon through the overnight with occasional gusts to 20 kts

A mixed bag of VFR to IFR conditions prevail across northern and
central NM late this morning as a storm system over northern AZ
spreads areas of light precipitation across northern and central
NM. Deterioration is forecast later this afternoon and overnight
as this system moves across northern NM through Thursday morning.
Rain will likely mix with snow before turning over to all snow
this evening at KABQ/KAEG and KTCC. MVFR and IFR conditions will
be associated with snow this evening and overnight, with low to
moderate probabilities for LIFR at KSAF. Snow on runways is likely,
except at KROW where temperatures will remain too warm for
accumulation. Improvement Thursday will be slow. A backdoor cold
front will create a gusty east canyon wind at KABQ later today and
overnight, but gusts are forecast to remain below Airport Weather
Warning threshold at this time.
