Convection was in the area once again sending outflow boundaries
that impacted DIA. Will leave precipitation out of the TAF going
forward.  None of the models show any drainage winds at DIA
overnight, but rather, keep weak north to northeasterlies winds
going all night. Some model cross sections indicate lower Stratus
at the airport, mainly from 12Z-18Z. Not totally convinced about
it, but will keep something lower going at least some of that
time. Will go with SCT-BKN020-030 for a few hours Tuesday morning.

Main concern is a frontal boundary will be moving across the
KCOS and KPUB regions later tonight, this front is expected to
surge through KCOS around 09 UTC with gusty winds continuing
into mid morning, with upslope flow developing by late morning.
SOme thunder is quite likely after 21 UTC.
KPUB will be VFR through the period, although we may see some
thunder at the very end of this forecast period. Some gusty
north winds may develop after 09 UTC with winds eventually
becoming upslope by mid morning. There will be a chance of some
thunder by late tomorrow afternoon.
KALS will be VFR through the period with gusty SW winds in the
afternoon.

Generally southwesterly winds will continue to gust 25 to 35 mph
this evening, lessening after sunset and overnight and returning
to the typical terrain driven nature. A few spots may continue
to be breezy overnight like KMTJ which tends to have enhanced
downslope winds in southwest flow while KTEX experiences LLWS
due to stronger winds aloft moving overhead. SCT to BKN clouds
will continue this evening as a disturbance approaches and moves
through Tuesday afternoon. Breezy conditions pick up again
after 16Z Tuesday with gusts 25 to 35 mph once again especially
across SW Colorado. VFR conditions will prevail the next 24
hours.

.AVIATION...KSLC... Winds are expected to calm somewhat following
00z as they continue to transition to predominately northwesterly to
around 5kts by 06-07z. Winds will be light and variable through the
evening, though should remain mostly northwesterly into the morning.
During the day tomorrow, winds pick up once again out of the
northwest to around 10-12kts following 15z.
.AVIATION...REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING... All sites are
expected to shift to northwesterly this evening following the
passage of a dry frontal boundary with winds tapering off through
the overnight. Regarding KBCE, a fire is currently ongoing to the
southwest. In the next few hours, smoke could begin to settle
reducing ceilings and/or reducing visibilities overnight at the
terminal. There is some uncertainty surrounding this, so amendments
will likely be needed. Tomorrow afternoon, gusty northwest winds
will resume across all sites.

VFR conditions at all TAF sites for the entire period. Storms
have pushed east of CPR with only mid and upper level clouds
left for the overnight and into Tuesday. Winds increase at
BPI/PNA/JAC/RKS west of the Divide with a tightening gradient
from the west. Otherwise, no storms expected. East of the Divide
will see some storm activity at COD/CPR with a minimal chance at
WRL (carrying only VCSH at this time). COD will be best between
21-01Z and CPR between 18-23Z being a bit earlier development
than previous days ending into the early evening well before
sunset. Coverage will be less, and thus still carrying the

disturbances in the flow helping to produce scattered showers
and thunderstorms tonight and Tuesday afternoon.
Wyoming TAFS...Scattered to broken clouds from 5000 to
15000 feet will prevail, with areas of fog from 09Z to 15Z at
Cheyenne, reducing visibilities to 5 miles and ceilings near
1500 feet. Thunderstorms will be in the vicinity of Cheyenne
until 01Z, with a chance of showers from 09Z to 12Z. Winds will
gust to 25 knots at Rawlins and Cheyenne until 02Z, and to
35 knots at Laramie until 14Z.
Nebraska TAFS...Scattered clouds from 5000 to 10000 feet will
occur until 09Z, then ceilings will lower to 1000 to 2500 feet
from 09Z until 15Z, then ceilings will be near 5000 feet.
Occasional thunderstorms will occur until 04Z, reducing
visibilities to 3 miles, with areas of fog and drizzle from
06Z to 15Z, reducing visibilities to 3 to 5 miles. Winds will

with MVFR visibilities and gusty, erratic winds expected inside
thunderstorms. Some low stratus development is possible across
western and southwest Nebraska towards sunrise leading to MVFR
CIGs, though confidence in this is low. CIGS should rise in any
stratus that does develop back to VFR into Wednesday afternoon.
Winds remain east-northeast outside of thunderstorms, at 10 to
15kts.

Initial concerns for the 00Z TAF period will center around
thunderstorm development and associated impacts. Strong
thunderstorms have begun to develop along stationary front with
the most intense storms likely along and east of front/dryline
intersection near the NE/CO/KS border, with KMCK seeing the best
potential to be impacted before 06Z. Strong winds exceeding 40
kts, blowing dust, hail and periods of heavy rain will likely
bring MVFR to IFR conditions with the strongest storms. Outflow
may initiate a storm near KGLD before 03Z, but that is less
likely. After thunderstorms diminish after midnight, expect
stratus to overspread the area through the morning hours,
gradually breaking up with diurnal heating. Lower MVFR
conditions likely to be widespread around sunrise.

Thunderstorms will be in the vicinity of HYS for the next few
hours, and maintained a convective TEMPO group for HYS 06-09z
Tue. Outflow wind gusts of 45-55 kts are likely. Other airports
are expected to remain dry. Southeast winds will remain
gusty/elevated through 12z Tue. Consensus of short term models
is for MVFR to low end VFR stratus to spread into DDC/GCK/HYS
06-12z Tue, with no stratus at LBL. Stratus ceilings will
gradually improve daylight Tuesday. A strong cold front will
bring a sharp north wind shift to the airports 18-21z Tue, with
north wind gusts as high as 35 kts. Thunderstorm placement and
coverage along/behind this cold front Tuesday afternoon and
evening is highly uncertain. Prefer to keep convection mention
out of the end of the TAF period until model agreement improves.

jet with core developing at around 1800-2000 FT AGL and this is

sites with the LLWS level being around 1200 FT. There is a 20
percent chance of a storm at GUY this evening an tomorrow evening,
although there will likely be more storms in the area in general
tomorrow. Chances are too low to include in the TAFs and will

sunset. Winds will strengthen aloft ahead of an approaching
disturbance overnight, creating a period of some LLWS at KFMN,
KGUP, KABQ and KSAF after the boundary layer decouples late
tonight. Smoke from fires in the Gila mountains may create minor
visibility reductions in central NM again Tuesday morning. Deep
daytime mixing will mix stronger winds aloft down to the surface
resulting in breezy to locally windy west winds areawide. Hot
temperatures in the upper 90s to mid 100s will result in density
altitude concerns for smaller aircraft.
