.DISCUSSION...Tonight and Friday...Light snow returns to the
northern mountains tonight and continues into Friday as a weak
system embedded in the northwest flow aloft tracks over the
region. Winds increase as well over the mountains and foothills,
with gusts to 50 to 60 mph in the typical windy locations. This
will produce fair to good smoke dispersal across the mountains and
foothills.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Friday night through Tuesday...Mountain
snow and wind should continue to increase Friday night into the
weekend, with significant snowfall accumulation likely across the
mountains. Gusty winds may also spread into the plains during the
day Saturday afternoon. Good to excellent smoke dispersal is
expected across the higher elevations Saturday, with poor to good
dispersal for the lower elevations. Smoke dispersal will increase
a bit on Sunday. A drier but still breezy pattern is expected for
the first half of next week. Stronger wind gusts are possible
again Tuesday.
