Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC

.DISCUSSION...

Morning low clouds across the northern Midlands should eventually
burn off by late morning but will delay temperatures from warming
as quickly as other areas. The upper ridge will weaken a bit today
and this combined with abundant low level moisture and a
destabilizing atmosphere should yield scattered convection across
the Midlands, shifting the focus to the western and northern
Midlands this evening. Scattered convection continues on Wednesday
across the western Midlands as a frontal boundary approaches
from the west. Increasing confidence in impacts from heavy rain
as a potential tropical system moves into the southeastern US by
Thur/Fri as a hurricane. Right now, heavy rainfall and gusty winds
look to be the primary concerns with that system.

Tonight: Patchy fog is unlikely outside of fog prone locations.
