The recent warming trend will reach its peak today with highs in
the upper 60s over the Northwest Mountains, to between 80 and 85
degrees near and to the southwest of I-80/I-99. Southwest winds
will gust into the 30 to 35 mph range during the late morning and
afternoon hours.

Numerous showers and a few thunderstorms are expected for the
northwestern third to half of the Commonwealth this afternoon and
evening. There is a chance for heavier rain over northwestern
Pennsylvania. Rain is expected to spread across the rest of the
state Tonight, with Wednesday bringing a soaking rain for the
majority of the state. Rainfall totals through Wednesday night
will range from as low as a quarter inch along and south of the
PA Turnpike to upwards of an inch and a half in northwestern PA.

Rain showers will linger across much of the state on Thursday,
potentially mixing with snow in the northern and western
mountains. Much cooler conditions will follow the passage of a
cold front Wednesday night through Friday, with northern areas
potentially near freezing Thursday night.
