Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0211 AM CDT Tue Jun 25 2024

Valid 261200Z - 271200Z

...Synopsis...
A deepening surface pressure low near the ID/OR border is expected
to accompany a mid to upper-level Pacific trough moving onshore
Wednesday. The associated pressure gradient will tighten over the
Pacific states (in particular across western OR) yielding breezy
west to southwest surface winds ahead of an approaching cold front.
Some initial cloud cover early in the day may briefly inhibit
mixing, but clearer skies during the afternoon should allow for
momentum transfer of stronger flow from aloft aiding in higher wind
gusts. In addition, RH will drop into the low teens within this more
deeply mixed air mass ahead of the front, across portions of the
western and northwestern Great Basin. A few hours of elevated
conditions are expected here.
