Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0128 PM CDT Thu Aug 28 2025

Valid 291200Z - 301200Z

...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

Isolated mixed wet/dry thunderstorms are likely in portions of
eastern into central Oregon tomorrow. If thunderstorms develop
closer to the Cascades and in areas that received minimal rainfall
from this past monsoon surge, an IsoDryT area may be warranted.
Please see the previous discussion for more details.

...Synopsis...
In the wake of a slow-moving midlevel low over the Northwest, weak
midlevel ridging will develop across the northern Great
Basin/Intermountain West on Friday. Over eastern OR into western ID,
diurnal heating amid remnant midlevel moisture may support isolated
dry thunderstorm development during the afternoon. However,
uncertainty regarding storm coverage and fuel receptiveness limits
confidence in the overall fire-weather risk. Mixed wet/dry
thunderstorms will once again be possible over northern WA into the
ID Panhandle. However, preceding rainfall may limit the overall risk
here.
