.DISCUSSION...

At the start of the forecast period (9AM) on Saturday, Sanford
Stadium is likely to be under partly cloudy skies, with
temperatures around 64 to 65 degrees. An area of showers and
perhaps embedded thunderstorms is expected to be ongoing across
north Georgia (well to the north/west of Athens), sweeping
eastward and deteriorating through mid-morning -- currently not
expecting this activity to impact campus or the stadium. Rain
chances will begin to increase early afternoon (generally
beginning around noon to 1PM), though coverage is expected to be
relatively patchy. Current best guess for most likely window for
direct impacts to campus/the stadium would be between 3PM and 8PM.
Notably, this window includes ingress/when gates open. Chances
for rain peak around 70 to 75% during this timeframe, with
corresponding chances for thunder and thus the potential for
lightning sitting at 40%. Rain chances will begin to taper off
after 8PM (to about 45 to 50%) and more appreciably by 1 to 2AM
(15 to 20%). Precipitation totals will be light, with less than a
quarter of an inch forecast for the 12 hour period extending from
8AM through 8PM Saturday. Higher amounts (possibly up to an inch)
are possible in thunderstorms. Highs on Saturday will be slightly
"cooler" under increased cloud cover and as the effects of the
cold front are felt, reaching 80 degrees around 3PM. From there,
temperatures will begin to cool gradually, to 73 degrees around
8PM, and to 65 degrees by 11PM. Apparent temperatures will be
within a degree of air temperatures.

Winds will be out of the southwest at 5 to 10 mph with occasional
gusts to 15 to 18 mph. If thunderstorms pass over or are in the
vicinity, an errant gust to 30 or perhaps 40 mph is possible.

Please contact us if you have any questions! We should have a
little bit more detail as far as hourly rain chances over the
course of the day today.
