This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northwest Iowa, west central
Iowa, southwest Minnesota, northeast Nebraska, central South
Dakota, east central South Dakota, south central South Dakota and
southeast South Dakota.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Increasing south winds gusting 20 to 35 MPH, combined with
unseasonably warm temperatures and drying grasses will lead to
elevated fire danger this afternoon. As temperatures climb to around
90 degrees, those sensitive to heat will want to seek out effective
cooling options and drink plenty of water.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

South winds increase further Saturday, with gusts 35 to 45 MPH more
common. High to Very High grassland fire danger will be widespread,
with isolated critical conditions possible. Caution should be used
to avoid sparking fire, especially in drier grasses or fields where
fall harvest activities are underway, as rapid fire spread is likely.

A few thunderstorms will be possible west of U.S. Highway 81 Saturday
night, but the risk of severe weather is low.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is not expected at this time.
