...EXTENDED NOAA WEATHER RADIO OUTAGE IN THE ROCK HILL AREA...

The NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards transmitter broadcasting from
Rock Hill South Carolina and serving the piedmont of the
Carolinas was damaged due to an apparent lightning strike and has
been off the air for weeks. Technicians have visited the site and
determined that extensive repairs need to be made before the
broadcast can be reestablished. This process likely will take a
few more weeks. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause
our listeners.

With Rock Hill not likely to return to service until December
at the earliest, listeners are advised to tune their radios to
different frequencies in order to continue to receive weather
alerts from NOAA. The Spencer Mountain transmitter near Charlotte
broadcasts on 162.475 MHz and is the best choice for York or
Chester County in South Carolina, and for Cleveland, Gaston and
Union Counties in North Carolina. In Cherokee or Union County,
South Carolina, the best choice is the broadcast from Paris
Mountain on 162.55 MHz.
