051 FXUS64 KHGX 251556 AFDHGX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX 1056 AM CDT Sat Jul 25 2026 ...New DISCUSSION, MARINE... .KEY MESSAGES... - Dangerous heat building this week with temperatures in the upper 90s/100s and heat indices of 104-112F. Heat Advisories likely at times. - Patchy fog possible during the early to mid-morning hours for at least the next few days. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 932 AM CDT Sat Jul 25 2026 The main story for this upcoming week (and potentially longer) will be the heat and humidity that continues to build into the region. A strong upper-level ridge over the Southern Plains will dominate our weather pattern this week causing above normal temperatures with high temperatures in the upper 90s to low 100s and overnight lows in the mid mid to upper 70s inland and low 80s at the coast. Afternoon heat indices will rise into the 104-109 range through Monday, then increase higher by midweek. There will be an increasing risk each day for the need of a Heat Advisory with Heat Advisories very likely by Wednesday. As of right now, tomorrow looks to have the best chance for some isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms developing along the sea breeze. This is thanks to increased daytime heating, increasing PWATs, and some PVA moving into the region from a weak upper-level disturbance sliding in from the northeast. While we cannot out-rule very isolated afternoon activity this week thanks to daytime heating, rain chance will remain near zero thanks to that dominating high pressure. Fowler && .AVIATION... (12Z TAF Issuance) Issued at 623 AM CDT Sat Jul 25 2026 Some patchy MVFR fog/ceilings around the region should burn off by mid morning. Otherwise, VFR conditions will prevail the remainder of the day with some high cloudiness tracking in from the north and northeast. Intermittent MVFR fog/ceilings again possible late tonight and early Sunday morning. 47 && .MARINE... Issued at 932 AM CDT Sat Jul 25 2026 South to southwesterly winds around 10-15kt with low seas will prevail through much of this upcoming week. No significant weather concerns expected.
