.DISCUSSION...
Periods of mid/high-level cloudiness can be expected at times
from today through Friday, as the TN Valley will remain beneath a
strong NW wind flow aloft. Although some virga may also appear in
local radar data, chances for precipitation remain very low (5% or
less). With surface high pressure situated to our southwest,
winds will be light/variable today, before increasing from the
southwest tonight and tomorrow as another area of low pressure
bypasses our forecast area to the north. Smoke dispersion will be
in the fair category today, but will improve to generally good
tomorrow as mixing heights increase to 3000-3500 ft and transport
winds strengthen to 15-20 MPH. As for the extended portion of the
forecast, dry weather conditions will largely prevail through at
least next Wednesday. However, there is a low chance for light
wintry precipitation in the wake of an intense cold front that
will cross the region early Saturday evening. Should any freezing
drizzle or light sleet occur, it would likely be from late
Saturday night through early Sunday morning.
