Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central/Southeast Illinois
National Weather Service Lincoln IL
324 AM CDT Mon Aug 18 2025

.DISCUSSION...

The heat and humidity continue today, with afternoon heat indices
as high as 105 degrees. Winds will be light again, initially
southeasterly and gradually turning to southerly by midday. The
light winds will keep ventilation poor today. Isolated storms are
possible through mid-afternoon, then rain chances increase to
30-50% along and north of I-72/Danville from late afternoon into
tonight. Locally heavy rainfall is possible. Storm chances will
persist into Tuesday as a front moves across the region. Expect
variable wind directions on Tuesday, with a general trend of
shifting from south-southwesterly Tuesday morning to north-
northwesterly by Tuesday evening. For the extended forecast,
temperatures trend cooler by Wednesday, with precip chances below
20% Wednesday into the weekend.
