925 AM EDT Fri Oct 2 2026

  of central Indiana Tuesday morning

&&

.FORECAST UPDATE...
Issued at 925 AM EDT Fri Oct 2 2026

Forecast is in good shape this morning.

Bulk of rain has exited the forecast area, but some additional
forcing may bring rain back north later this morning into early
afternoon. Have kept at least slight chance PoPs as far north as the
I-70 corridor through early afternoon. PoPs will then end northwest
to southeast by late afternoon.

Upped sky cover some based on latest trends, but still expect at
least partial clearing northwest this afternoon. High temperatures
look reasonable given expected conditions so made no changes at this
time.

.DISCUSSION (Today through Thursday)...
Issued at 301 AM EDT Fri Oct 2 2026

Showers will pass through the area this morning as a cold front
drops through the region, though disjointed and weakening upper
level forcing has led to lighter amounts than previously expected.

Precip will gradually come to an end from northwest to southeast
during the day today, though trapped moisture below a low level
inversion will keep the area cloudy much of the day. This along with
the low level cold advection behind the boundary will keep
temperatures from rising more than a few degrees today at most.
Skies will clear out tonight, allowing lows to drop into the 40s
across the majority of the area.

The remainder of the forecast period will be dominated by two areas
of surface high pressure, keeping temperatures near to below normal
much of the weekend into early next week, and possibly providing an
opportunity for the first patchy frost of the season next Monday
night, particularly if winds can go light to calm and allow lows to
drop even further than the current upper 30s across the northeastern
portion of the area.

Some recovery of temps mid to late week is expected with modestly
rising heights aloft and southwesterly low level flow reestablishing
itself on the backside of the second surface high, and temperatures
may creep back slightly above normal late week into next weekend for
a very pleasant stretch.

.AVIATION (12Z TAF Issuance)...
Issued at 635 AM EDT Fri Oct 2 2026

Impacts:

- Showers gradually ending by midday

- IFR gradually improving to MVFR later this morning, with VFR
returning all sites by this evening

Discussion:

A slow moving frontal boundary continues to push through the area,
with showers along and behind it, as well as widespread restricted
conditions, primarily ceilings. Showers will come to an end from the
northwest by midday, with conditions improving thereafter from IFR
to MVFR, then VFR by this evening. Winds will generally be northerly
through the period, with few gusts into the mid teens this afternoon.
