National Weather Service Jackson KY
744 AM EST Wed Dec 10 2025

...Strong Southwest to Westerly Wind Gusts Today...

.DISCUSSION...A strong clipper low is passing through the Great
Lakes today and will drop a sharp cold front and subsequent
secondary boundary across eastern Kentucky this afternoon and
evening. Winds will be gusty from the southwest this morning
turning more westerly this afternoon. Peak gusts in the 30 to 35
mph range will be common, but could locally approach 40 mph. Rain
showers will transition to snow showers this evening as the cold
fronts push through. While most places will pick up dusting to an
inch of accumulations tonight, locations above 1,500 feet in
southeastern Kentucky are favored to pick up 1 to 2 inches with
some of the higher elevations of Big Black Mountain and adjacent
areas recieving even more.
