Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
1158 AM CDT Sun Aug 23 2026

.DISCUSSION...

As high pressure dominates the region into next week, we will see
temperatures above average with daytime highs well into the 90s
and overnight lows in the upper 70s. Drought conditions have
depleted fuel moisture and rain will continue to be very
difficult to come by for many areas outside isolated to scattered
showers and thunderstorms during peak heating hours. Lowest daily
RH values will remain in the mid 40 to 60% range through the
week.
