Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
138 PM CDT Sat Jun 6 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Low level moisture has moved back into the area and Min RH values
will remain about 60% through the weekend and into Monday. Min RH
values may drop into the 50% range across southwest MS and maybe
into the adjacent LA parishes Tuesday and Wednesday not
necessarily because drier air moves in but because afternoon
highs will be a touch warmer. Winds are already beginning to
relax and overnight ht tonight should drop down to around 5-7 mph
with winds remaining light well into next week. The high moisture
and wet conditions for recent rains including today will continue
to alleviate any critical fire weather concerns. Rainfall chances
start decreasing tomorrow and continue to into the new workweek.
However, RH values and winds will overall limit critical fire
weather potential.
