Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
538 AM CDT Tue Jun 2 2026

.DISCUSSION...

One more day of scattered to numerous storms today before a weak
backdoor cold front moves through tonight. Behind that front we
will see drier air work into at least the eastern half of the
region and a wind shift to the east along with slightly cooler
temperatures. This front will wash out going later into the week
and into next weekend and winds will shift back to the south as a
stout and large area of high pressure becomes centered over the
southern Appalachians and western Atlantic. That will increase
the moisture and thus humidity levels going into the weekend.
