WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: High pressure continues to build in
across the region, with temperatures trending warmer through
Saturday. Slightly cooler Sunday into early next week, though
still above normal.

Record heat is expected in Ely this afternoon. Near record heat
is anticipated in Elko and Eureka this afternoon. A Heat Advisory
is in effect for most of Northern and Central Nevada from 11 AM
PDT this morning until 9 PM PDT this evening. Record heat is
expected in Ely and Eureka Saturday afternoon. Near record heat is
anticipated in Elko, Winnemucca, and Tonopah Saturday afternoon.
Record heat is expected in Ely and Eureka Sunday afternoon. Near
record heat is anticipated in Tonopah Sunday afternoon. Heat
Advisories will likely be required for most of the forecast area
Saturday and Sunday. Here are probabilities of triple digit heat
for select locations in Northern and Central Nevada on Saturday,
August 1st, 2026:

Battle Mountain - 95%
Carlin - 95%
Elko - 90%
Winnemucca - 90%
West Wendover - 90%
Wells - 90%
Spring Creek - 85%
Tonopah - 80%
Eureka - 70%
Ely - 50%

High temperatures throughout Northern and Central Nevada Monday
afternoon will be around five degrees above normal for this time
of year. Maximum temperatures across the forecast area Tuesday
afternoon will be seven to nine degrees above seasonal values.
High temperatures through Northern and Central Nevada Wednesday
afternoon will be around ten degrees above normal for this time of
year. Heat Advisories may be required for parts of Northern and
Central Nevada Monday through Wednesday.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: High forecast confidence in
near record heat in most of Northern and Central Nevada each
afternoon through Sunday. High forecast confidence regarding a
moderate risk of heat-related illnesses for heat-sensitive groups
each afternoon through Sunday. High forecast confidence in above
normal temperatures persisting into at least the middle of next
week.

Smoke from regional wildfires will result in periods of hazy
skies today, however not expecting VIS to drop below 6SM at any
terminal. Otherwise, mostly sunny/clear with VFR conditions today
and tonight.

.FIRE WEATHER...

High pressure continues to build in across the region with hot, dry
and storm-free conditions through the weekend. High temperatures
in valleys this afternoon will range from upper 90s into the low
100s. West to SW winds of 7 to 13 mph and gusts of 15 to 20 are
expected across most of the region this afternoon. Strongest winds
generally across the northern portions of Fire Weather Zones 437,
438, 469 and 470. Overnight relative humidity recoveries will be
poor tonight, only rising into the 10 to 20 percent range across
the valleys in Central NV, and up into the 15 to 25 percent range
for Northern NV valleys. Winds increase across the northern
portions of zones 437, 438, 469 and 470 Saturday afternoon, and
across all FW zones Sunday afternoon. Critical wind and RH
conditions are possible late Sunday afternoon through Sunday
evening across zones 438, 469 and 470 as well as the higher
terrain of zone 437.
