.DISCUSSION...
(Today through Thursday)

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: An upper-level area of high pressure
will remain parked over the Four Corners region of the United
States today and Saturday. High temperatures both this afternoon
and Saturday afternoon will be six to eight degrees above normal
for this time of year. Record heat is expected in Ely, Eureka, and
Tonopah this afternoon. Near record heat is anticipated in Elko
this afternoon. A Heat Advisory is in effect for most of Northern
and Central Nevada from 11 AM PDT this morning until 8 PM PDT this
evening. Near record heat is expected in Elko and Eureka Saturday
afternoon. A Heat Advisory is in effect for Northern Nevada from
11 AM PDT Saturday morning until 8 PM PDT Saturday evening. An
isolated mix of wet and dry thunderstorms is anticipated in most
of Northern and Central Nevada each afternoon and evening today
and Saturday. A few of these thunderstorms could be strong. The
primary thunderstorm hazards will be wind gusts as high as 55 mph
and dangerous cloud to ground lighting strikes.

The aforementioned anticyclone aloft will shift southward Sunday
and Monday. A ridge of high pressure will extend northward across
the Great Basin Tuesday through Thursday. Monsoonal moisture will
move northward into Eastern and Central Nevada Sunday through
Wednesday, resulting in the likelihood of wetting thunderstorms
each afternoon and evening. Heavy rainfall may result in minor
flooding of streams, creeks, and low-lying areas. A cooling trend
trend is expected Sunday through Thursday. By Thursday afternoon,
maximum temperatures across Northern and Central Nevada will be
six to eight degrees below seasonal values.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: High forecast confidence
regarding near record heat today and Saturday. High forecast
confidence in moderate risk for heat-related illness today and
Saturday. High forecast confidence regarding wetting thunderstorms
each afternoon and evening Sunday through at least Wednesday.
Moderate forecast confidence in a marginal risk of excessive
rainfall Sunday through at least Tuesday. No deviations from the
NBM model output.

.AVIATION...
VFR conditions are expected at all terminals through Friday
evening. Friday afternoon wind gusts at KWMC, KTPH, and KELY will
range 20-22KTs. Continued monsoonal activity over extreme eastern
NV continues Friday with thunderstorms possible near KELY Friday
afternoon and early evening. Winds in and around thunderstorm
activity will be gusty and erratic. Thunderstorm activity will
subside by sunset.

.FIRE WEATHER...
An isolated mix of wet and dry thunderstorms is expected in the
majority of Northern and Central Nevada each afternoon and evening
today and Saturday. A few of these thunderstorms could be strong.
The primary thunderstorm hazards will be erratic wind gusts as
