Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Northern IL and Northwest IN
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville IL
345 PM CDT Fri Apr 18 2025

.DISCUSSION...

A cold front will move across the area tonight, bringing scattered
showers and thunderstorms, especially near and south of a
LaSalle-Peru to Chicago line. Saturday will be mostly cloudy and
cooler with some lingering shower activity south of US-24,
especially in the morning. Wind directions will be northwesterly
inland and turn northeast to east near the lake due to a lake
breeze. This will result in much lower mixing heights near the
lake and a few to several miles inland.

The next storm system will affect the region on Sunday and Sunday
night, with periodic showers during the day on Sunday, followed
by more widespread showers and embedded thunderstorms at night
that should bring many locations a wetting rain. Any lingering
morning showers on Monday will end in the wake of the system cold
front, followed by breezy west-southwest winds in the afternoon.
The rest of the week looks to be solidly above normal inland, but
cooler near the lake, with some periodic chances of rain.
