...SEASONABLY ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS INTERIOR THROUGH
THIS WEEKEND...
...VERY SMALL RISK OF ISOLATED DRY LIGHTNING STRIKES ACROSS INTERIOR
LATE SUNDAY AFTERNOON INTO MONDAY...
.DISCUSSION...
Modest warming and drying is expected across the interior through the weekend
with highs in the 80s to lower 90s common. Humidities will
generally range between 15 and 25 percent across the interior, but locally
fall to between 8 and 15 percent across the higher mountains and Antelope
Valley. Weak offshore winds have developed across portions of the interior
today with gusts in the 20 to 30 mph range, but will weaken later this afternoon
when winds return to onshore and remain gusty at times thorugh Sunday.
A weak upper level low pressure system will bring a 5-10 percent chance of
showers and thunderstorms to Santa Barbara and San Luis counties late Sunday into
Sunday night, spreading to all mountains and adjacent foothills on Monday. While
there will be increasing instability during this time, moisture will be more
limited. As a result, there is a very small risk of isolated dry lightning strikes.
