TONIGHT...
.DISCUSSION...
An unseasonably strong upper level low pressure system passing through
Central California will bring widespread gusty northwest to north winds
through tonight. The strongest northwest to north winds will be focused
this afternoon into tonight across southern Santa Barbara county, interior
mountains of Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, the I-5 corridor, and
Antelope Valley where 20 to 35 mph winds with gusts of 40 to 50 mph
will be common. Isolated gusts to 60 mph will be possible in favored
locations. Humidities will generally remain elevated through tonight, mostly
in the 40 to 60 percent range, but locally falling to around 30 percent.
Winds are expected to weaken on Saturday but still remain breezy
(gusts 25 to 35 mph, shifting to a more north-northeast direction. This will
bring a warming and drying trend on Saturday. Conditions will rmmain dry
through the middle of next week, then a surge of subtropical moisture
will bring a small chance of showers next Friday or Saturday.
