Southerly winds will increase tonight into Wednesday morning with gusts from 40-50 mph near the coast and in the hills. An early season cold front will reach the North Bay early Wednesday morning with periods of heavy rain and then shift southward through the Bay Area before weakening over the Central Coast. Rain totals for the North Bay and coastal hills of Santa Cruz and Monterey county from 1 to 2 inches with wetting rains likely in the valleys except for interior Monterey and San Benito county by sunset Wednesday. High pressure rebuilds Thursday and Friday with only a slight chance of light rain near the Mendocino county line otherwise dry and mild.
