Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...

A 29.7 inch low over northwest Ontario is extending 29.9 inch
troughing over the lake while 30.1 inch highs are over eastern
Hudson Bay and the southern Appalachian range. Throughout this
evening and Friday, the low will move slowly east along the northern
shores of Lake Superior while the highs weaken. By early Saturday
morning, the low will be south of James Bay along the Ontario/Quebec
line. As the low shifts to southern Quebec Saturday evening, weak
29.9 inch ridging will be over the lake as 29.3 inch low pressure
forms in the lee of the Rockies. Ridging builds to 30.0 inches
Sunday as the low weakens to 29.4 inches and moves into the western
Dakotas. By Monday afternoon, Lake Superior will be between 29.2
inch low pressure over Saskatchewan and 30.2 inch high pressure over
the St. Lawrence Seaway. The low moves to the western shores of
Hudson Bay while the high shifts to the Atlantic Seaboard on
Tuesday.
