A strong cold front will progress southward through the region
this evening through tonight, bringing a chance of showers and a
few thunderstorms. Rain chances taper off early Thursday morning
with northerly flow bringing below normal temperatures to the
area. A second front will move through later in the week bringing
additional chances for showers and a few thunderstorms Friday
afternoon into Friday evening, mainly south of I-70. The second
front will reinforce the cooler-than-normal airmass through the
upcoming weekend. Despite rain chances, widespread beneficial
rain is not anticipated with any true benefit occurring on a
localized basis. Minimum RH values generally range 35-50 percent
through Sunday. Mixing heights will be suppressed below 1500 feet
through Thursday morning before increasing to 4000-6000 feet
Thursday. Mixing heights then drop again Friday, ranging from
2000-3000 feet over most of the area.
