.DISCUSSION...
Low pressure will approach from the Tennessee Valley tonight. Winds
should remain light, possibly resulting in some down valley effects.
No precipitation is expected.
A warm front will lift into the area through Sunday, with low pressure
passing overhead during the afternoon. A few light rain showers are
possible, especially during the midday to early afternoon. Rain amounts
will be less than a tenth of an inch. Southwesterly wind gusts will
start to increase during the morning. Winds will shift to the west
in the afternoon, with a further increase in gusts that will continue
into the night. Gusts to around 30 mph are possible. It will also
turn sharply colder, with air temperatures dropping into the 20s and
wind chill values as low as 15. Lingering rain showers will change to
snow showers.
Cold and blustery conditions with snow showers will continue Monday
and Monday night. This is a situation where most of the snow falls on
the western facing slopes of the divide. However, an inch or two of
snow could accumulate by Monday night. Air temperatures Monday likely stay
below freezing with wind chill values in the teens as northwesterly winds
continue to gust to around 30 mph. On Monday night, air temperatures will
drop into the teens. Northwesterly wind gusts may increase up to 40 mph at
times. Resultant wind chill values will approach 0 degrees.
Winds will gradually decline Tuesday, but still likely gust to 30 mph
through the day. Some breaks in the clouds are possible, but air temperatures
will remain in the upper 20s with wind chill values in the teens. Even
though it will be turning drier, minimum RH values should remain in the 60
percent range.
