Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
113 PM CDT Sun Oct 12 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Min RH stays above critical 15% and overnight recovery remains
good to excellent until late week, limiting fire weather risk
until then. A medium to high chance of wetting rains into early
this week over western higher terrain and Southeast New Mexico
keep fire weather conditions there low. Warmer and drier weather
midweek continues, and with fuel ERCs increasing close to 75th
percentile for eastern Permian Basin along with fading vegetation
greenery, fire risk may begin to increase by then. Cooler weather
late week into the weekend but with min RH closer to critical 15%
and gusty 20-ft westerly winds above 20 miles per hour at times
may further increase fire weather threat during the daytime over
parts of the region.
