Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
136 AM CDT Sat Sep 12 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Low fire weather conditions persist due to min RH remaining
generally above 15%, good to excellent overnight recovery, and
relatively light 20-ft winds, despite ERCs in the 50th to 74th
percentile and continued above normal temperatures. Fire starts from
lightning and strong, erratic winds in isolated daytime storms are
possible, but overall risk of ignition and fire spread will remain
low. Temperatures gradually cool through next week while rain
chances gradually increase across the western half of the area.
