Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
123 PM CDT Thu Sep 17 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Min RHs stay above critical thresholds (>15%) with good to
excellent recovery, as well as 20-ft winds largely remaining
below 20 mph. Fuel ERCs in the 50th to 74th percentile and
isolated daytime storms over the western higher terrain pose a low
risk for fire starts from lightning and strong, gusty/erratic
winds. Cooler weather and increased chances of wetting rains this
weekend through next week keep fire weather concerns low.
