Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
102 PM CDT Sat Sep 19 2026

.DISCUSSION...

The forecast remains unchanged as low fire weather concerns
persist. Min RHs will stay above critical thresholds (>15%) with
good to excellent recovery through the next several days while
20-ft winds largely remaining below 20 mph. Fuel ERCs in the 50th
to 74th percentile and isolated to scattered afternoon and
evening thunderstorms pose a low risk for fire starts from
lightning and strong and gusty/erratic winds. Cooler weather and
increased chances of wetting rains continue late this weekend
through next week keep fire weather concerns low.
