URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...BLIZZARD CONDITIONS CONTINUE ACROSS SOUTHERN AND WESTERN
MINNESOTA...
...TRAVEL IS NOT ADVISED...

.Steady snow will continue through the evening and taper off
overnight. Total accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are forecast across
eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, with amounts tapering off to
4 or 5 inches across far western Minnesota. In addition, strong
northwest winds gusting to 45 to 55 mph are expected  this evening,
leading to a continuation of blizzard conditions in open areas of
western and southern Minnesota through early Monday morning.

A Blizzard Warning is in effect west of a line from Long Prairie to
St. Cloud, the southwest Twin Cities metro, and Albert Lea. A Winter
Storm Warning is in effect for the rest of eastern Minnesota and
western Wisconsin.

...BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST MONDAY...

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions. Additional snow accumulations between 2
  and 4 inches. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph.

* WHERE...Kandiyohi, McLeod, Meeker, Renville, Stearns, Todd, Wright,
  Redwood, Chippewa, Douglas, Lac Qui Parle, Pope, Stevens, Swift,
  and Yellow Medicine Counties.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM CST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel
  treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Plan on slippery road
  conditions. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce
  visibility. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel,
have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with
your vehicle. Call 5 1 1 or visit 511mn.org for road conditions.

Remember, if interstate highways are closed, state highways and
county roads are also dangerous. Exit the highway and find shelter.
Do not travel. It is illegal to drive beyond barricades and doing so
may put your life at risk.
