942 FXZS60 NSTU 300054 AFDPPG Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Pago Pago AS 154 PM SST Fri Aug 29 2025 .DISCUSSION... Fair weather conditions have been observed throughout the day as a gentle to moderate east wind flow remains over the area. These conditions will likely remain over the islands as a mid-level high pressure system continues to suppress any cloudy growth. The existing high pressure system to the south will continue to migrate east as another high pressure system from the southwest moves just south of the area, generating moderate to fresh trades by Sunday night through midweek. During this time frame, showers and winds will potentially increase. As the latter high pressure system continues to move east, winds will likely turn east on Wednesday night through the end of the forecast period. Therefore, expect isolated to scattered showers with gentle to moderate easterlies for tonight through at least Sunday. By Sunday night, winds will increase to a fresh breeze with scattered to numerous showers through the rest of the period. No other significant weather hazard is expected for this period. && .Marine... Manual observations continue to show a downward trend in seas as winds also decrease to a more gentle to moderate easterly flow. Data from the PacIOOS Aunu`u and King-Poloa buoys show wave heights subsiding even further. Model data show these conditions remaining over the coastal waters for tonight through at least Monday before building to advisory thresholds on Monday night. Thus, the advisory for small crafts is now cancelled. A large south south swell is expected to reach the American Samoa shores by Monday night through the end of the forecast period. This also aligns with southeast winds increasing to a fresh breeze, enhancing seas and surfs. && .PPG WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... Small Craft Advisory is cancelled && $$ JTAllen
