...DEVELOPING CIRCULATION TO BRING HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND STRONG
MONSOONAL WINDS TO OUTER ISLANDS OF YAP AND CHUUK STATES...

An unsettled weather pattern extends across eastern Yap State and
into western Chuuk state. A circulation, known as Invest 90W is
centered near 9N147E near west Fayu and Pikelot, and embedded within
the monsoon trough that extends across western Micronesia. The
influence of 90W is helping to generate a westerly wind burst with
winds around 25 to 30 kts according to scatterometer data, with
stronger gusts likely in heavy showers and thunderstorms.

Model guidance shows that Invest 90W will likely consolidate slowly,
with little likelihood of developing into a significant tropical
cylone over the next 24 hours, though heavy convection will continue
to build over the eastern islands of Yap State and into western Chuuk
State. Invest 90W is expected to slowly move northwest, dragging the
monsoon trough north and west, pulling the strong monsoon winds and
heavy showers away from Chuuk State and further west across Yap
State. Strong southwest monsoonal winds and heavy showers and
thunderstorms will make inter-island hazardous and potentially
dangerous at times.

Residents and mariners should monitor the latest forecasts for the
region at weather.gov/gum/PublicForecasts and any information shared
by WSO Yap and WSO Chuuk for their local regions.
