.KEY MESSAGES...

- Hot Today and Tomorrow and into early next week.

- Fire Weather concerns will be elevated over far eastern plains
Today and Tomorrow, some DRY LIGHTNING will be possible Sunday
evening over far eastern plains.

- A little bit less hot MON and TUE with increasing chances for
showers, especially higher terrain.

- RAIN CHANCES INCREASE SIGNIFICANTLY STARTING MID WEEK AND LASTING
INTO NEXT WEEKEND. HEAVY RAIN AND FLASH FLOODING POSSIBLE.

.SHORT TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...

The main concern for the short term will be the heat. Heat
Advisories are in effect for a good part of the plains as temps will
be in the 90s to 100F in El Paso county and 100 to 108 across the
remainder of the plains. 90 to 95 will prevail in the larger
valleys.

Elevated fire weather concerns will be likely across the far eastern
plains this afternoon as winds will be around 25 mph and RH will be
around 15%

Any thunderstorm will be isolated and high based later this
afternoon and early evening. I should note that we may see some
isolated thunder with a lee trough over the plains, with the best
chance from roughly KLHX to Kim. Local strong gusty winds will be
possible with any storm later today.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...

Sunday...will be identical to Saturday although it may be a degree
hotter over the plains. Additionally, there will be a slightly
better chance of convective showers over the mtns and they may
produce some locally wetting rains, especially over the CONTDVD
region. Also, the lee trough may be more pronounced on Sunday over
the plains and we may see a few more thunderstorms over the plains
and DRY LIGHTNING may be more of a concern. Elevated fire weather
concerns will also be possible over the far eastern plains on Sunday.

Monday and Tuesday, Continued hot on the plains, but we will see a
better chance of showers and storm over the high country. There will
be more clouds so it will be somewhat cooler over the higher
terrain. POPs on the plains will also increase a bit and we should
see more clouds plains.

From Wednesday onwards, the monsoon moves in with authority! NBM
viewer for many points across our region show high pops and
accumulated rainfall is 1 to 2+ inches from mid week into next
weekend. Temperatures are also much cooler, even reaching below
normal by later in the week. Although the cooler temperatures and
rain will be much welcomed, flash flooding issues for the burn scars
and urban areas mill likely become a concern.

Folks who live in the Aspen Acres burn scar area are strongly
encouraged to maintain a vigilant watch of weather forecasts
starting early this upcoming week, as we could once again see
multiple days of monsoonal heavy rains on the burn scar starting
around mid week this upcoming week and lasting into next

VFR conditions at all three terminals (KALS, KCOS, KPUB) through
the next 24 hours. Increasing mid and high clouds are expected
this afternoon and evening, clearing after 08z/Sun. There could
be a few thunderstorms across the Pikes Peak region this
afternoon, with gusty outflow winds impacting KCOS.
