591 FXUS64 KSHV 261758 AAA AFDSHV Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED National Weather Service Shreveport LA 1258 PM CDT Sat Sep 26 2026 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... Issued at 1142 AM CDT Sat Sep 26 2026 - Mainly dry conditions will continue through the weekend, with a warming trend developing and continuing into the work week. - Afternoon widely scattered showers and thunderstorms possible across northeast Texas, southwest Arkansas, and southeast Oklahoma on Sunday. - Widespread rainfall expected areawide Wednesday, continuing through the end of the week. A passing front may manage to bring temperatures slightly closer to seasonable values. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1134 AM CDT Sat Sep 26 2026 Upper-level ridge across the region to maintain dry conditions today with temperatures forecast to climb into the lower 90s. Ridge to shift southwest on Sunday with the ArkLaTex becoming under the influence of northwest flow along the periphery of the ridge. A weak frontal boundary across Oklahoma into north Arkansas could allow for a few widely scattered showers and thunderstorms across the I-30 corridor on Sunday afternoon. Otherwise, subsidence associated with an approaching upper-ridge from the west will drive afternoon high temperatures into the mid 90s on Monday and Tuesday. A broad-upper low across the Desert Southwest will bring southwest flow across the ArkLaTex. The remnants of tropical cyclone Polo in the Pacific will eject northeast introducing a prolonged rain event across the ArkLaTex from late Tuesday through possibly Friday. WPC Day 1-7 QPF indicates that the brunt of the rainfall, producing near 3 inch totals, will occur across east and northeast Texas as well as southeast Oklahoma while the remainder of the ArkLaTex could see rainfall averages around 2 inches. High temperatures on Thursday and Friday to average in the mid to upper 80s with lows in the mid to upper 60s. /05/ && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1258 PM CDT Sat Sep 26 2026 VFR conditions will continue through the 26/18Z TAF period. A weak cu field has developed across portions of Deep E TX, N LA, and SCntrl AR, and will persist through the afternoon beneath cirrus cigs that will spread E across the region. Some of these elevated cigs may lower a bit into a high based AC field over NE TX/SW AR, before spreading SE across the remainder of Lower E TX/N LA/SCntrl AR this evening. While these should thin from NW to SE later this evening, cirrus cigs should linger overnight before thinning during the morning Sunday. Another weak cu field should again develop by late morning/midday across Lower E TX/N LA/Srn AR, as the cirrus shield again increases from the NW. Vrb winds around 5kts this afternoon, except SSE across the Wrn sections of E TX, will become Lt/Vrb or calm after 00Z. /15/ && .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
