Expect mainly hot and dry conditions today across the area as a
strong upper level ridge remains just to our north. However,
isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are possible across our
southern counties this afternoon. A few Hi-Res models have an
isolated storm maybe to around San Angelo. Also, isolated showers
may start across the Northwest Hill Country late this morning. The
main hazards will be dangerous lightning and damaging winds. Highs
will be in the mid 90s to around 101 across the Big Country. Please
follow heat safety precautions including drinking water. Expect warm
and humid conditions tonight with lows in the upper 60s and 70s.

.LONG TERM...
(Monday through Saturday)

On Monday, an upper level ridge will be centered across Kansas and
Oklahoma. This will result in a continuation of the above normal
temperatures across West Central Texas. The forecast area will
remain on the southern periphery of the ridge, so isolated showers
and thunderstorms are possible, mainly along the I-10 corridor.
Although most areas will remain dry, low (15-20%) rain chances are
forecast across the I-10 corridor. Highs will be in the mid 90s to
near 100.

Tuesday into Wednesday the upper level ridge will become elongated,
stretching from the Four Corners region to the Southeast United
States. This will result in hot and dry conditions with highs above
seasonal normals. Highs these days will be in the mid 90s to near
100, with overnight lows in the upper 60s to upper 70s. For the
latter part of the work, the upper level ridge begins to shift west,
becoming centered across Arizona and California. Despite the ridge
becoming centered farther west, its influence on the forecast area
will continue with hot and dry conditions continuing. Highs will
continue to be 5 to 10 degrees above normal, in the mid 90s to near
100.

Expect VFR conditions for the next 24 hours. Isolated to widely
scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon
across the southern part of the area and will maintain PROB30
groups for thunder at the KJCT, KSOA and the KBBD terminals. Brief
gusty winds and temporary reduction to visibility is possible
associated with convection. Convection will dissipate after
sunset with the loss of daytime heating.
