TORNADO. RISK...Limited. AREA...Northeast Oklahoma. ONSET..Late Evening Into Early Sunday. SEVERE THUNDERSTORM. RISK...Elevated. AREA...Ongoing. ONSET...Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas. FLASH FLOOD. RISK...Limited. AREA...Northeast Oklahoma. ONSET...This evening. HEAVY RAIN. RISK...Elevated. AREA...Northeast Oklahoma and Western Arkansas. ONSET...Ongoing. DISCUSSION... After the ongoing storm complex exits southeast Oklahoma and west- central Arkansas this afternoon, thunderstorms are expected to redevelop late this evening across north-central Oklahoma. These storms will grow in strength and coverage across northeast Oklahoma and eventually spread east and south into the remainder of Oklahoma and western Arkansas after midnight. Instability and wind shear will be sufficient for some of this activity to reach severe limits. Damaging wind gusts to 65 mph and quarter size hail will be the main threats, however, a tornado are two will also be possible, especially across northeast Oklahoma. In addition, torrential downpours with this activity will combine with saturated soils to produce rapid runoff and flash flooding potential across portions of northeast Oklahoma late this evening and overnight. Localized heavy rains will spread across the remainder of Oklahoma and portions of western Arkansas through Sunday morning as the storm complex moves south. Although more limited, some areas are likely to experience further flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Activation of the Regional Spotter Network Likely. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday. SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. FRIDAY...No Hazards. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... Thunderstorm chances remain in the forecast into early next week, with a limited severe weather potential. Locally heavy rainfall will also remain possible with the storms. An uptick in thunderstorm chances may occur late Wednesday and Wednesday night as a weak cold front approaches from the north and washes out somewhere in our vicinity by Thursday. weather.gov/tulsa contains additional information. $$
