.KEY MESSAGES...

* Breezy south-southwesterly wind gusts will continue through the
  week with dry conditions and near-normal temperatures.

&&

.DISCUSSION...Persistent troughing across the Western US will keep
the region in a generally dry and breezy pattern through much of
the upcoming week. In the near term, a trough will eject into the
Northern Plains today before additional troughing drops south
along the Pacific Northwest Coast by midweek. This will keep the
Mojave Desert and southern Great Basin region in a southwesterly
flow aloft, favoring breezy conditions in the afternoons and any
lingering monsoonal moisture focused more across central and
eastern Arizona. A few isolated thunderstorms may develop across
eastern Mohave County through midweek, but coverage is expected
to be quite limited.

Otherwise, thanks to the pattern at hand, temperatures will remain
near seasonal normals through the period. The flow pattern will
trend more zonal by the weekend allowing for the gusty winds to
ease while temperatures remain near normal.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Gusty
south-southwesterly winds will pick up t his morning, with gusts to
20-25KT expected through sunset this evening. Thereafter, sustained
speeds will remain around 10KT through Tuesday morning before gusty
winds return in the late morning and afternoon. VFR conditions
prevail, with temperatures briefly reaching a high of 100 degrees
around 23Z-00Z.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Winds across much of the
region will become elevated and gusty out of the south-southwest by
mid- to late morning, with gusts to 20-25KT common through this
evening before gradually diminishing. Exceptions include the western
Mojave Desert/KDAG, where west-northwesterly winds are not expected
to shift to the southwest until early evening, with gusts continuing
through much of the night, as well as the northern Owens
Valley/KBIH, where winds generally follow typical daily patterns
with speeds around 10KT or less. VFR conditions will prevail, with
isolated thunderstorms expected over portions of northwestern
Arizona this afternoon that are unlikely to cause any impacts at
area terminals.
