.DISCUSSION...
Hot and dry conditions will continue throughout the Western
Interior as High pressure continues over the Interior.
Northwesterly winds will pick up in the afternoon hours Monday and
Tuesday with the strongest along the coast. The big story will be
the thunderstorm activity across much of the Western Interior for
the next couple of days. These storms will be accompanied with
frequent lightning, heavy rain, and gusty erratic winds. We are
expecting thunderstorm activity to continue through the overnight
hours Monday night and Tuesday night.
Today Numerous thunderstorms are expected in the Middle Yukon,
and Upper Kuskokwim Valleys. With widely scattered thunderstorms
making their way into the Seward Peninsula and Western portions of
the Brooks Range. Tuesday another round of Numerous thunderstorms
are expected in the Middle Yukon and Upper Kuskokwim Valleys. A
fire weather watch is in effect for the heightened thunderstorm
activity.
