.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Warmer, dry, and less windy
conditions can be expected today as a large ridge builds over the
region. Minimum humidities will fall to 15-20% in the drier and
warmer areas across the foothills, I-25 Corridor, and northern
border area, with higher RH in the snow covered areas of the high
country and eastern plains. Though temperatures will be above
normal, there should be a shallow stable layer just above the
surface. The combination of that and generally light transport
winds will keep smoke dispersal poor today.
For tonight, stronger inversions will develop on the eastern
plains and high mountain valleys. Locations in/near the Front
Range will see warmer temperatures and poor humidity recovery in a
very dry but weak downslope regime.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Friday through Monday...Friday and
Saturday will have well above normal temperatures that could
approach record highs. In addition, the southwesterly flow will be
dry and relative humidity drop to the teens across the foothills
and plains. Saturday will have the lowest relative humidity as the
southern foothills could see humidity down to 10 percent. With
such low humidity, the wind forecast will be in focus for the
potential for Red Flag conditions. Winds will be light enough on
Friday that no critical fire weather conditions are expected. On
Saturday, there may be some breezy conditions in the afternoon
across the foothills and adjacent plans with gusts between 25-30
mph. This will lead to areas of elevated fire weather conditions
and the potential for near critical fire weather conditions.
Sunday and through next week, a colder airmass with higher
moisture will be in place. No critical fire weather conditions are
expected through Thanksgiving.
Smoke dispersal will be poor on Friday due to light winds. Smoke
dispersal will be good across the higher terrain on Saturday and
through much of next week. Across the plains, smoke dispersal will
generally be poor but some breezy conditions could change that on
Sunday and Wednesday.
