The risk for rip currents is low, however, life threatening rip currents often occur in the vicinity of the South Padre Island jetties. Remember to swim near a lifeguard. Lightning Risk: None. Ultraviolet Index: Extreme. Wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses, and use sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher. Remain in shade if possible. Weather: Mostly Sunny. Temperatures: Mid to Upper 80s. Wind: Southeast winds 15 to 20 mph. Wave Heights: 1 to 3 feet. Surf Temperature: 78 degrees. Bay Temperature: 84 degrees. Tides: A minor high at 6 53 am. A low at 2 49 pm. A high at 11 37 pm. Outlook: The rip current risk will likely remain low through Sunday with an elevated risk of rip currents then possible on Monday. Afternoon temperatures will stay warm featuring highs in the mid to upper 80s and up into the low 90s at times with generally mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Slight chance for rain and thunderstorms look to return during mid to late next week.
