.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1005 AM EDT Tue Apr 23 2024

It has been a rather pleasant start to the day in the wake of the
recent frontal passage. Winds remain from the northeast today with
occaisional breezy conditions across the region. This northeast
wind has also brought with it drier air and our dew points are
comfortably in the mid to upper 60s. Current temperatures along
the island chain are in the mid to upper 70s. KBYX continues to
shows some isolated showers and sprinkles, mostly out across the
distant Straits of Florida. Otherwise, it`s mostly sunny and dry!

No changes needed for the current forecast. This morning`s
sounding showed a sharp inversion located about 900 mb with deep
dry air aloft. This dry air will continue to filter in as a broad
area of high pressure along the Eastern Seaboard consolidates
near the Carolina/Georgia region this afternoon. As a result, rain
chances will be limited to the Straits of Florida were boundary
layer moisture and convergence will be maximized. In addition, the
aforementioned high will maintain northeast winds across the area
for today with breezy conditions persisting at times.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1005 AM EDT Tue Apr 23 2024

Small Craft Exercise Caution headlines remain in effect for all of
the Florida Keys coastal waters. Moderate to fresh northeast to
east breezes today will slacken to gentle to moderate tonight
through Thursday across the Keys coastal waters, as high pressure
moves from the Southeastern states offshore into the western
Atlantic. A stronger high will move into the western North
Atlantic late this week and into the weekend, producing strong
easterly breezes across the Keys waters.

.AVIATION...

Dry, VFR conditions will persist at EYW and MTH today following
yesterday`s cold front. Near-surface winds will remain northeasterly
to easterly in the 10 to 15 knot range with gusts up to 15 to 20
knots. Brief MVFR CIGs are possible at both terminals, but not
sufficient to warrant a TEMPO group or additional line.
