Surf along north facing shores will be 2 feet or less through Saturday. Outlook through Friday August 24: Overall, small surf is expected along all shores through the weekend. A broad area of low pressure is expected to develop near the Aleutian Islands this weekend, and will likely bring a small north-northwest swell starting Monday night or Tuesday of next week. We will continue to monitor the development of Hurricane Lane for any surf potential next week. Surf heights are forecast heights of the face, or front, of waves. The surf forecast is based on the significant wave height, the average height of the one third largest waves, at the locations of the largest breakers. Some waves may be more than twice as high as the significant wave height. Expect to encounter rip currents in or near any surf zone. $$ is the U.S. government's official web portal to all federal, state and local government web resources and services.
