VFR to prevail through Wednesday night. Winds will be the main
challenge with south to southeast winds expected through 18Z
Wednesday. Winds may turn southwest to northwest 16-19Z with the
development of a Denver Cyclone. A cold front will bring north winds
to 25 knots after 19Z. Scattered showers are expected to form after
21Z and most numerous after 00Z Thursday. Ceilings may fall to 5000
to 6000 feet under the showers. There is a slight chance (10-20%)
for a thunderstorm as well. Drier air moving into the area and will
bring the showers to end and clear skies after 06Z Thursday.

An upper low pressure system passing by to the north will bring
deteriorating conditions for the northern half of the state today,
which will clip the central mts. MVFR to IFR conditions expected to
develop due to snow and lowering cigs over mt passes of the central
mts after 18z-20z and continue into the evening.
Elsewhere, much of the forecast area is expected to enjoy VFR
conditions over the next 24 hrs, including the three main TAF sites
of KCOS, KPUB and KALS. A cold front is forecast to push south
across the Palmer Divide between 00z and 02z, affecting KCOS
and KPUB but pcpn is not anticipated at terminals. Further east
across the plains, stronger storm activity may occur, especially
near /KS border.
KCOS and KPUB: Increasing S-SE winds with gusts to 25 kts between
18z and 02z. Cold front passage roughly 01z at KCOS and 03z at KPUB
will swing winds around to the north with gusts to 25-30 kts and
lowering cigs towards the end of the forecast period.
KALS: Increasing W-SW winds with gusts 30-35 kts developing between
17z and 02z.

A cold front will work its way through the region today and
tonight. Valley rain showers and mountain snow is expected, as
well as a few thunderstorms along the front. Terminals can
expect to see intermittent IFR conditions within shower
activity. Gusty outflow winds and small hail will also be a
concern around some of the stronger showers. Surface winds will
be strong ahead of the front and begin to subside towards
midnight tonight when the frontal boundary begins to clear the
region. Most places will return to VFR conditions later this
evening, while some clouds and isolated showers will hang up on
the Divide into the early morning hours of Thursday.

Another in a series of shortwaves will pass through the region
today. Shower activity is possible across the north and central
areas early this morning and then again during the afternoon.
Generally, impacts will be limited to none at most terminals. KCOD
and KJAC have the highest chance (60%) of occasional MVFR conditions
associated with these waves. KPNA has a 30% chance of seeing snow
showers this morning, and an outside chance is also possible at KCPR
(less than 15% chance) during the first few hours of the period.
Otherwise, VFR conditions will prevail through the period with
occasional mountain obscurations. Gusty winds will increase at most
sites late this morning into the afternoon, with gusts up to 30 to
35kts expected (80% chance) at KCPR, KRIW and KRKS and a 50% chance
of gusts exceeding 30kts at KBPI and KPNA. Gusty winds at KRIW and
KRKS may hold on through 03Z to 05Z, but all other terminals will
see winds diminish around sunset.

moving across the terminals today producing some showers.
Wyoming TAFS...Ceilings will range from 5000 to 12000 feet.
Showers will be in the vicinity of Laramie and Cheyenne from
18Z to 02Z. Winds will gust to 30 knots at Rawlins and Cheyenne
from 16Z to 02Z, and to 30 knots at Laramie through the period.
Nebraska TAFS...Ceilings will vary from 4000 to 10000 feet.
Occasional showers will occur from 19Z to 01Z reducing

VFR conditions are expected to prevail today across western and
north central Nebraska, becoming MVFR this evening and IFR
overnight. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible across western
and north central Nebraska most of the afternoon into the early
morning hours. With the showers and thunderstorms, ceilings could
become lower than currently forecast, as seen overnight, and there
could be potential for erratic winds in vicinity of thunderstorms.
Winds will become gusty out of the southeast this afternoon, and
should settle down again this evening, outside of thunderstorms.

GLD: VFR conditions are expected to deteriorate to MVFR late
this morning and early this afternoon, further deteriorating to
IFR and possibly LIFR at/around sunset (~02Z) this evening.. in
association with stratus. While showers/storms cannot be ruled
out invof the GLD terminal late this afternoon (~22-02Z), at
this time.. the majority of convective activity is anticipated
to be confined further north. Expect conditions /ceilings/ to
improve to VFR near the end of the TAF period.. 06-12Z Thu.
Easterly winds at ~10 knots will veer to the ESE and increase
to 15-25 knots late this morning.. further veering to the SE
this afternoon. Winds will shift to the N or NE at 15-25 knots
this evening, backing to the NW and decreasing to 10-15 knots
near the end of the TAF period as a lee cyclone in southeast CO
weakens and progresses eastward across southern KS.
MCK: VFR conditions are expected to deteriorate to MVFR (in
association with stratus) this afternoon, further deteriorating
to IFR and possibly LIFR around or shortly after sunset
(02-04Z) this evening. Showers and thunderstorms are possible
late this evening into tonight.. mainly in the 04-07Z time
frame. Expect conditions /ceilings/ to improve to VFR near the
end of the TAF period.. 09-12Z Thu. NE winds at ~10 knots will
veer to the E or ESE and increase to 15-25 knots late this
morning and persist through the afternoon. Winds will back to
the NE or N at 15-25 knots this evening and persist overnight..
decreasing to ~10 knots by the end of the TAF period.

We are continuing to monitor the low clouds spreading into
southwest Kansas as the east southeast flow continues. BUFR
soundings and NBM guidance continues to show ceilings lowering
into the 500 to 1500ft AGL between 12z and 15z but looking and
observation upstream I am becoming a little concerned that these
low ceilings might be too low. At this time given that the
potential is still there will continue to follow guidance with a
period of IFR ceilings but the will have a shorter duration
that what the models suggest. These low clouds will give way to
VFR conditions towards 18z as a warm front moves north across
southwest Kansas. How far north this warm front will move is
unclear but currently it appears that this surface boundary will
be north of Dodge City but south of Garden City and Hays. Gusty
south southwest winds will develop during the afternoon south
of this warm front.

Mostly VFR conditions for the TAF cycle. That being said, some low
clouds are lingering at KGUY and cigs are down to 400ft, with some
visibilities starting to drop. This is expected to clear out after
15z as drier southwest winds push into the area. VFR thereafter.
We`re watching low clouds moving toward KAMA and if they don`t
slow down or stop, they`re progged to bring at least MVFR
conditions by about 1430z and may linger through about 17z. Will
not rule out lower than MVFR categories, but for not confidence
isn`t high enough. Most TAF sites will be south to southwest winds
from 18z-02z time period. Thereafter, winds are expected to
transition to southeast as the dryline retreats. Then around 11z
most sites could start to transition to northerly winds behind a
front.
