Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
301 PM EST Sun Jan 19 2025

.DISCUSSION...
An arctic cold front will sink south through the area this
evening, bringing the coldest air mass of the season. Strong
westerly winds this afternoon into evening with gusts over 30
mph, resulting from an increased pressure gradient, should
begin to relax after midnight. A much colder and drier air
mass will be over the region to start the week and continue
through much of the week. There is a chance for some wintry
precipitation Tuesday afternoon through early Wednesday as
a low pressure system moves from the Gulf Coast to off the
southeast coast. Westerly winds this afternoon with shift
northwesterly overnight and continue through Monday before
shifting more northeasterly on Tuesday. Min RH values
should be near critical values both Monday and Tuesday in
the 20-30 percent range.

Fog Potential: None.
